Getting your skin prepped and wedding-ready doesn’t need to be a nightmare! With just a little bit of foresight, you can ensure that you’ve got that perfect bridal glow during your big day.
As an expert in advanced skin care, I recommend that you be prepared to invest at least 6-12 months for your successful ‘skin journey’. This gives you the ideal amount of time to begin treating, and nourishing your skin so that it looks absolutely fabulous exactly when it needs to!
Following over 15 years’ experience in the industry, I’ve actually come up with a few other tried and tested recommendations too, so, without any further delay, here are my five essential skincare tips for the perfect wedding skin:
- Do your research
It’s extremely important to build a plan for your skincare and to get a budget in place. Before you do anything, I recommend first and foremost to do your research.
Before starting your skin journey you’ll need to find a salon that has a reputation for excellent skincare treatments and products.
This is important as they can assess your complexion’s current state way better than you and your trusty mirror! Also, they can help you devise a strategy for achieving your dream-skin goals.
The type of products you want to keep an eye out for at these salons are cosmeceutical ranges such as Environ, Clinicare, and Ultraceuticals – these ranges have high-quality active ingredients with clinically proven results.
Once you find the salon you love, be sure to book a consultation and then to build a relationship with your therapist. Understand exactly what you want for your skin – not what your friend has or what treatment she has had done!
- Practice a homecare regimen
80% of your skincare results come from your homecare thanks in large part to fantastic advances in the range of cosmeceutical products. The brands mentioned above (Environ, Clinicare, and Ultraceuticals) all contain great quality active ingredients, peptide collagen boosters, Hyaluronic serum, as well as Vitamin A and C.
Some of my favourite products for homecare include:
This product contains 3 types of different acids formulated to remove dead skin revealing a brighter, tighter, and refined skin tone leaving the skin ‘future resilient’ – this is your Botox effect in a jar!
As you build on your skincare, the skin tends to become so strong and healthy that it actually becomes harder for the products to be fully absorbed by your skin. This is where a CIT Roller comes into play – these rollers help the product to penetrate 100% into the skin.
Environ Youth EssentiA Vita Peptide Eye Gel
This eye gel is packed with essential vitamins, antioxidants, and peptides designed to plump and hydrate the under-eye area, while also helping to protect from external environmental damage.
At the same time, it helps to improve sun damaged skin cells too and enhances the effects of the skin’s natural sun protectors, giving skin a radiant glow.
Don’t forget the skincare basics too:
- Always keep your skin hydrated.
- Drink lots of water every day.
- Feed the skin with active ingredients such as Vitamin A and C.
- Always wear sun cream, even indoors, as we all need to protect our skin form UVA and UVB. UVA rays are everywhere no matter whether it’s winter or summer – they’re even indoors!
- Follow through on your morning and evening routines EVERYDAY
Consistency is key for glowing skin, and having a thorough day and night skincare routine is important to ensure your skin is ready for the big day.
Build on your products on a regular basis so you’re achieving your desired results, adding things like masks, serums, hydrating oil capsules, and taking skin supplements to help the skin from the inside out.
One of the major things to remember here, is to have patience. A skin journey takes time, especially if you suffer from pigmentation or breakouts – these can sometimes take at least 6 months to get fully under control.
- Consider the importance of supplements
Sometimes cleansers, toners, and moisturisers aren’t enough to get the job done. When the problems stem from within, the best place to turn is to beauty supplements to take care of the skin from the inside out.
Filled with beneficial ingredients bragging various antioxidant properties, collagen boosters, as well as promoting healthy, clear skin, supplements are a great way to supplement your wedding skincare routine.
Supplements containing vitamins, minerals, herbs, or fatty omega acids can make a noticeable change to skin after only a few weeks.
Our Advanced Nutrition Programme Skin Range Skin Complete supplements are a great start to any wedding skincare regimen.
- Manage Stress
Planning a wedding is stressful! Although easier said than done, it’s important to keep your stress levels down, not only for your own mental wellbeing, but for your skin’s wellbeing too!
Many inflammatory conditions such as eczema, psoriasis, and keratosis pilaris, have been found to be at least partially caused by stress. As stress weakens the immune system, chronic inflammation worsens.
The fix for stress? Do what you can to chill out!
Why not involve the groom to be too? Couple’s massages are great way to relax together, and the best thing, you can do them at any stage, and as many times as you want!
