The summer’s almost upon us, and that of course means summer weddings!
In this skin&bodyworks blog, we’ll take a look at how summer brides can keep their skin fresh and healthy for their wedding and achieve that perfect bridal glow in time for the big day!
Wedding Prep: Preparing for your big day
When it comes to wedding beauty prep, there’s no such thing as starting too soon.
As experts in advanced skin care, we always recommend that you be prepared to invest at least 6-12 months for any successful ‘skin journey’.
Starting your wedding skincare regimen early is also a great way to practice some self-care, and it gives you the best opportunity to de-stress ahead of your special day too!
Self-care is the best care
It’s absolutely vital for brides-to-be to put their self-care at the top of their wedding to-do lists!
On average, up to 80% of your skincare results come from your own homecare regimen. This is possible in large part due to fantastic advances in the range of readily available cosmeceutical products with biologically active ingredients which help to enhance skincare success – popular brands include Environ, Clinicare, and Ultraceuticals.
Each of these amazing products contain great quality active ingredients such as peptide collagen boosters, Hyaluronic serum, as well as Vitamin A and C, to help make your skin look wonderful!
And don’t forget the basics of skincare:
- Always keep your skin hydrated.
- Drink lots of water every day.
- Feed the skin with active ingredients such as Vitamin A and C.
- Always wear SPF sun cream (even indoors!) to protect skin from the damaging effects of UVA and UVB radiation.
Major wedding skincare “dos” and “don’ts” to keep in mind
- Don’t copy your friends’ skincare regimens.
When it comes to skincare, there’s no one-fits-all approach – everyone’s skin is different. That’s why we recommend against taking suggestions from friends about their skincare treatments!
- Do speak to a professional.
Customising your personal skin care routine with the help of a professional will help you better promote optimal skin health for your specific skin type. A skin consultant can also help you focus on your immediate skincare needs and help you properly plan to tackle any issues in time for the big day.
- Don’t try something new just before your wedding day.
Never try something brand new before your wedding day as your skin can respond in a negative way to new treatments. Drastic changes in your regimen, or using harsh new products before your big day can often cause breakouts, redness, and dryness in your skin.
